Bio:
Macha Gharibian returns to Armenia for a unique concert at Ulikhanyan Jazz Club.
Paris-based pianist, singer, and composer of Armenian descent, Macha Gharibian weaves together her heritage and her journeys between Paris and New York. Rooted in a demanding classical training and the jazz she discovered in New York, she creates a musical universe where ancient melodies meet contemporary grooves.
Winner of the Victoires du Jazz 2020 in France, she has released four critically acclaimed albums and performed on international stages including Montreux, New York, São Paulo, Moscow, and Beijing.
For this exceptional concert, she will be joined by Kenny Ruby on electric bass (Iggy Pop, Mo Kouyate) and Belgian drummer Dré Pallemaerts, an exceptional musician who has performed with Toots Thielemans, Joe Lovano, and Dee Dee Bridgewater.
Together, they will perform "Phenomenal Women," her fourth album released in January 2025. Inspired by Maya Angelou's poem, this album is a tribute to the strength of women, sung in five languages including Armenian. Her radiant voice and piano transport us between celebration and melancholy, tradition and modernity.
Her concerts are suspended moments where deep connection and shared emotion come alive.
